Dandruff is something that a lot of people are suffering from. It’s a condition that involves excessive flaking of dead skin cells on the scalp. Contrary to popular belief, dandruff is usually caused by too much oil on the scalp and not too much dryness. While some people rely on medicated shampoo, cortisone and antifungal creams, others prefer natural remedies to solve their dandruff problem.
First of all, diet is important not just for the skin, but also the scalp. A well-balanced diet with lots of green, leafy vegetables and fresh fruits, as well as lots of water is recommended for beautiful skin and healthy scalp.
Also, there are a lot of home remedies that can easily be made to treat dandruff. Some of them are discussed below.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Many people use Apple Cider Vinegar once a week to treat their dandruff. To start with, wash your hair with a mild shampoo. Then, create a solution of two parts water and one part Apple Cider Vinegar. Apply this solution to your scalp and let it dry. Cover your hair with a scarf or put a towel on top of your pillow so that you don’t stain the sheets. Wash your hair as usual the following morning.
Lime Juice
Apply a few tablespoons of lime juice to your scalp as a last rinse after washing your hair is useful in curing dandruff. It can also make your hair shinier.

Tea Tree Oil
Tea Tree Oil is a powerful antiseptic and anti-fungal treatment. Apply it directly to your scalp before washing it or mix a tablespoon of this essential oil with every 100 mL of shampoo.
Rosemary
Rosemary is proven to cure dandruff and alleviate the itchiness associated with it. To create a Rosemary Anti-Dandruff Tonic, simply place one cup of dried Rosemary leaves on one quart of boiling water and let it stand for about six hours. You can store this solution in the refrigerator for a week. Estimate the amount you’ll be needing for a single treatment and leave the rest on the refrigerator. Add 10 drops of Camphor oil and apply the tonic on your scalp using cotton balls. Wrap your hair using a shower cap and leave it there for thirty minutes. You can do this three times a week or everyday if you wish.

Beets
You can use both the tops and roots of white beets to cure dandruff. Simply wash them thoroughly and bring them to boil and massage the solution on your scalp before you go to bed.
These are just some of the natural remedies you can use to treat dandruff. If you’ve tried the prescription-strength shampoos and medications, or simply want to steer clear of them, you may find these treatments extremely helpful to cure this pesky condition.
